Privacy Notice

Who we are
International Locksmiths Association (ILA) is a Wyoming nonprofit organization. Our registered corporate address is 30 N Gould St, Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States. It is not a visiting address. This notice explains the data practices of the ILA website and its membership administration. Use our contact form and select Privacy or data request to contact us about this notice; written correspondence may also be sent to our registered address.
Information you provide
Contact inquiries contain your name, email address, subject, category, message and language. Membership applications and profiles contain your name, email, company or affiliation, location, areas of practice, professional experience, optional website, optional license details and application statement. A mobile number is required for membership applications and profiles. ILA uses your contact details for membership administration and invoice communications by email or SMS. Providing a mobile number is not permission for marketing messages. We record application decisions, email-verification status, membership periods and administrative payment references. Do not submit identity documents, key codes, access credentials, payment-card numbers or other sensitive security information through website forms. Approved applicants receive an invoice and payment link; financial information is provided directly through the payment method identified on the invoice, not through the membership application.
Technical information and authentication
Our hosting and security provider processes technical information such as IP addresses, request details and security signals. The application uses pseudonymous rate-limit keys derived from an IP address or account identifier and a private secret. Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes; the database stores a digest rather than the usable token. Session cookies normally expire after seven days, and can be revoked sooner. These safeguards reduce risk but cannot guarantee absolute security.
Why we use information
We use information to respond to requests, evaluate applications, administer membership, invoices, membership-related invoice communications and externally received payment records, provide access to profiles, maintain security, investigate misuse, resolve disputes and meet applicable obligations. We do not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, publish member profiles, send marketing newsletters or enable public blog comments. Any future material change will require an updated notice and any legally required choice.
Who receives information
Authorized ILA personnel can access information necessary for their responsibilities. Cloudflare provides hosting, database, access-security, challenge and transactional-email infrastructure. Contact messages are also copied to a private administrative mailbox; the mailbox provider processes those copies. When ILA arranges an invoice, a payment or an SMS message, the relevant invoicing, payment, banking or messaging service receives the information needed for that transaction or communication. Relevant service providers act subject to their applicable arrangements. We may disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights and security. We do not claim that all processing or email delivery occurs only in the United States.
How long we retain information
We retain inquiries while they are open and ordinarily for up to 12 months after closure. Unsuccessful applications are ordinarily reviewed for deletion 12 months after a decision. Member information is retained during the relationship and for a justified administrative period afterwards. Financial records may be retained for seven years under our proposed records policy, subject to applicable obligations. Security tokens and expired rate-limit records are removed through scheduled housekeeping. Legal holds, investigations or statutory obligations can require longer retention. Backup and mailbox copies follow the applicable provider and administrative retention processes.
Your choices and requests
You can edit most profile details and download your own profile and payment records while signed in. Contact ILA to request email-only invoice communications or to stop SMS messages. A required mobile field does not remove any applicable consent or opt-out rights. Use the privacy category of our contact form to request access, correction, deletion, closure of an account or other applicable rights. We may verify your identity without requesting unnecessary documents. Depending on the law that applies, rights may include objection, restriction, portability, withdrawal of consent where processing relies on consent, or a complaint to a competent authority. Some records must be retained despite a deletion request. We respond within applicable legal time limits.
Children, international visitors and updates
Membership applications are for adults aged 18 or older. The website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly seek their personal information. Our articles focus on United States regulation and markets; a Spanish translation does not make U.S. guidance applicable elsewhere. Additional privacy, transfer or representative obligations may apply to particular international activities and must be assessed before those activities begin. We publish material changes here and provide additional notice when required.
